Hayes Roth

I’ve read many books on building relationships including the new one by Keith Ferrazzi (Never Eat Alone) but Hayes Roth is whom I learnt the most practical wisdom from on this subject. When I moved to Landor New York, Hayes invited me for a cup of coffee and we struck up a great rapport from the get go. I worked with him on many cool projects including the first ever study linking Brand Health and Shareholder Wealth in partnership with Stern Stewart which was subsequently published in Forbes in the US.

Hayes was the consummate all round brand consulting professional who was brilliant at prospecting, winning new business, working the business and having long client relationships. He never said no to a meeting - whether it was a student who needed some guidance or a new business prospect in search of branding solutions. He had a broad and deep network which he had cultivated over the years and always put in effort to keep current and warm. Hayes replied to emails promptly and genuinely helped others above and beyond the call of duty. It was all this and more that I imbibed from Hayes.

How much time and energy do you dedicate to cultivating your relationships? Has this helped you at work?
