Music to a designer’s ears, right? How many clients think this way? Probably, very few. That’s what makes Asha Kharga a special client because she truly understands the time that is required to produce extraordinary design work. I first met Asha when she hired us for the retail identity transformation of Axis Bank. It was a stormy start (as some relationships can be!) but once we fully understood what really mattered to her, it was smooth sailing.

Being very client focused in my mindset, I used to sometimes agree to unrealistic timelines but it was Asha who sat me down and emphasised the importance of taking the right amount of time - not too much of course but not compromising either. This was such a valuable lesson. It has taught me to push back a lot more on unrealistic timelines by explaining the consequences.

The problem is that in the branding and design world the pendulum has swung from having had a lot of time in the past to having almost none these days. It feels like clients and agencies are always in rush rush mode.

Have you had to convince your clients that good design takes time in addition to everything else?

As a client, are you giving your agency the right amount of time to produce high quality work?
